Cole Swindell: "Chillin' It" In Gold And Platinum Style

Cole Swindell Seen gathered a crowd at a nightclub in downtown Nashville earlier this week to tape a couple of songs for the CMT Listen up Performance Series. At least that's all I thought it was going down when he took the stage before the excited audience.

But his label, Warner Music Nashville, had other plans , and the singer was surprised with his team two plates - one that commemorates the gold certification from the RIAA for his single " Chillin 'It" and another that celebrates its status platinum .

Yes , " Chillin 'It" was such a success, the Georgia native did not even have time to celebrate the gold will track 500,000 downloads and streams before learning he had given at the level of 1 million for platinum certification .

“You only get once a first single,"
Swindell told the crowd. “The fact that it was accepted not only by radio, but more than 1 million fans is beyond what I ever could have dreamed. This is something I will never forget. "

What a way to start the party! The crowd cheered as he moved through a high energy set of songs from their self-titled debut album, including “Chillin 'It" and his latest single, “Hope you get Lonely Tonight”.

Swindell is currently touring with his friend and mentor Luke Bryan. It is one of a handful of newcomers appear at this year's CMT Listen Up series that spotlights new artists through exclusive videos, performances and interviews

Cole Swindell On 'Chillin' It,' And What He Learned From Luke Bryan

It may seem that success has come quickly to Cole Swindell, whose first single, " Chillin 'It" is atop the Billboard Hot Country Songs for a second week , but it's not an overnight success.

Swindell came to Nashville over six years ago and , like many struggling singer / songwriters , he got a job that allowed him to sponge up information about the music industry and make contacts while working at his trade : He sold shirts out on Tour for Luke Bryan, and -

like Garth Brooks did for Martina McBride , which owes its goods -Bryan Swindell took under his wing , even allowing him to open for him at some point during the 2007-2010 season on the road Swindell .

Swindell then signed a publishing deal and began receiving his songs cut by the likes of Bryan , Florida Georgia Line and Scotty McCreery . But the arrogance of good timing " Chillin 'It" , he knew he had something special.

The song sold over 100,000 copies in iTunes before Swindell even signed to a major label, ultimately, the choice of Warner Music Nashville.

While Swindell was already experiencing success by itself, a label deal was always the holy grail . "I know there have been people who have succeeded remain independent, but has always been a dream for me to be on a label and just have the whole team behind me," he says.

He now officially has the opening slot in Bryan concert tour and he is putting into practice what you learned from Bryan upbeat. "He always said to me . . ."

Just enjoy it, I enjoy it ' He knows he can be stressful you dream of this and then the changes in perspective You are responsible for a lot of things, "said Swindell . He has also tried to learn to love -

Every - minute stage presence of Bryan. “From the first time I saw him play, long before I moved to Nashville, he was not afraid to have fun To me , that's the greatest compliment I can get . " He seems to be having the time of your life [in stage], ' so I am. Luke taught me not to be afraid to be silly. "

Swindell is enjoying success " Chillin ' It", but is happy that his album of the same name is now out there for people to see that their range extends the feeling bro -

Hit country track. " Cole Swindell “debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 last week, behind the soundtrack to "Frozen" and fellow country star Eric Church "The Outsiders”.

"I just knew I had other songs that people relate to, not just about cooling," he says. "We feel good songs, the songs missing, we have the true blue ballad in there," says Swindell , referring to "I Just Want You" , co -written with Bryan .

His next single, “Hope you get Lonely Tonight “is a sexy booty call co - written with Florida Georgia Line Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelly and Michael Carter.

Swindell grew Bronwood, Georgia, a town of about 600. "Can not imagine what’s going on there right now," Swindell his hometown, celebrating their local boy does well and his first number 1 and said artist. "My family is enjoying now. They could be enjoying more than me. "

He longs to go home and celebrate, but there is no time in your schedule for that since he is very busy in the opening track Bryan concert tour right now. In March,

"We will be in Panama City in March, and that's only 3 hours away. Maybe at least I can swing through and hug my mom and my grandmother’s neck."
